1. They are taking you somewhere you can't legally or safely get to on your own (ie, to the top of a glacier, deep inside of a volcano, etc).
2. They are providing you with equipment or an experience you can't create on your own (ie, horseback riding, whale watching, ice cave canyoneering, etc).
3. Being stuffed into a bus with 50 stinky people, having limited time at each location, and paying double the price it would cost to do it on your own is what you live for.

FACT: WE AREN'T INTO TOURIST TRAPS.
FACT: WE ARE NOT PAID TO ENDORSE ANYONE.
Like we've said before: Iceland is a safe and easy country to travel in. Anyone who can drive legally can have an independent and fun road trip. You never need to take a bus tour to a place you can drive to on your own (ie, anyhere in our road trips guide). But, if you can't get there on your own, it's time to look into tours.
Whew. Now that we have that out of the way, the following are tours we have personally taken and loved.
