All in all, a pretty epic splurge. But if your budget is tight, your money will be better spent seeing all the free sights Iceland has to offer.

Going down... down... down... 400 feet/120 metres into the volcano Thrihnukagigur!

15 May - 30 September
A very unique and interesting experience. You definitely won't ever do anything like this anywhere else. The tour guides were excellent and the soup was delicious!
It's very expensive for only spending 35-40 minutes inside the chamber. It really only feels like 5 minutes (and photographers especially don't have a lot of time to set up shots). We wished the tour was longer for such a hefty price tag.
Starting around $335.00/€295.00 per person including transport from Reykjavik.

The catwalk out to the lowering device. This tour may not be for anyone with the fear of heights...

The colors in the heart of the volcano are incredible!!!
Most volcanos collapse into themselves after errupting. Having an intact magma chamber is what makes Thrihnukagigur so unique and interesting.

After our hike out to base camp, we were met with the adorable face of a baby arctic fox. Definitely not a bad way to start a tour.
